A lot of back-end changes
Over the past week or so there have been a lot of changes. Changes you probably didn’t notice and probably wouldn’t ever have known unless you’ve read this post. The entire website and all of its services have been moved to a new server and I have switched from lighttpd to nginx with php-fpm, which works significantly faster along with using less resources. Also: The proxy detection api seems to be used heavily by users outside the WinMX community. An alternative service centered around this api will be released in the coming...

Over the last few days I have redone the backend database structures for all vital services related to keeping the website and its apis functional. During this process, it made sense to move the location of our web apis to a new folder, /api/. Because of this, all previous api locations have had page redirects set, and if your software using them does not handle these properly you may run into issues. Please check the page of the api you’re having trouble with to find out its new location and if anything else has changed. Below are...

Just to let everyone catch up on what has been going on behind the scenes here. Changes to the Chat Room List: Completely re-written to use JQuery instead of server side (php) processing. CSS re-done to be more efficient and the datatables script has been update (what makes it look cool). Visit the Chat Room List Changes to the WinMX Network Stats: Pretty charts and graphs have been put in to replace the plain text layout that was there before. The program behind what tracks the WinMX network has been completely re-written from...

Hello everyone, we just want to update you on some changes and service information that has happened in the past week. Server Migration: We are pleased to announce that if you see this post you are viewing the WinMXUnlimited website on the newer USA based server. Being on a dedicated server will improve website load time compared to the overloaded europe based vps we were on before. Proxy Detection Service Issues: We also want to bring to light some issues that the proxy detection service had earlier in the week. At least 100 users were...

It may be the weekend but the work never stops. We have just launched a brand new web based WinMX api for converting WinMX hash codes. It automatically detects up to four different input formats, and can output the results in either JSON or XML. Unlike other hashcode converter services that may be out there, we include live wpn chat rooms that match the ip address of the hashcode you’re converting in the results. Learn More

Just a quick update on some changes going on around here. I am currently in the process of eliminating the need for remote apps to provide the content for some of the database based features on the website. As of right now the web based WinMX chat room list is completely php driven and generated. Everything from requesting the room list to receiving it and inserting it into the database, it is all done via the server instead of a remote application doing the fun stuff. July 26th: Another update. The web room list has been moved to a new url...

We have made a few changes to the way the proxy detector api detects public proxy servers. This change prevents a rather large security flaw where someone could have potentially tricked the proxy checker into thinking any ip address was a public proxy server by posting the target ip adddress on a pastebin or forum along with proxy related keywords. The update is now live and working as expected. You should not notice any changes except having virtually zero false positives in the future. Visit the Proxy Detector...

It was quite obvious we had some major problems today. Our web hosting provider (JustHost.com) decided to suspend our service pretty much due to actually using what we were paying for. The main website has been moved to a more secure and beefy location so this will not happen again (hopefully). Currently we are trying to get everything functioning properly again, but this may take a couple days at most. Please check back here for any updates. Currently the network stats api and official page are currently disabled. We are also having issues...

After six years of the same old web design, and about two years of having nothing new added to this website I have decided to relaunch it. WinMXUnlimited is now completely running off wordpress, with a premium theme that I just love and I’m sure you will too. What’s new: Web based room list. Four WinMX web apis. Small updates for Room Filler & Southern Lights. WinMX proxy blocker announced. An all new web design (obviously) Web based hashcode encoder/decoder. Web based WPN statistics. There may even be more new stuff...
